MAD HATTER: MUSICIAN MAKES ROADKILL HATS
AUSTIN, Tex. (Wireless Flash) -- A drummer in Austin, Texas, is getting a reputation as a "mad hatter" thanks to his unique hobby: making hats out of roadkill. John "Mambo" Treanor expresses his creativity by turning dead animals he finds on the freeway into Davy Crockett-style hats. The 46-year-old musician's regular job keeps him on the road touring with musicians like Kris Kristofferson, but he still makes his roadkill hats whenever possible. Treanor's collection includes hats made out of smashed skunks, rolled-over raccoons and crushed cats -- but his dream is to make a coonskin hat out of a chihuahua.
