The Punkhouse Interviews: The Hissyfits

1.Roll Call!

P-GIRL: drums, vocals
PRINCESS: guitar, vocals
SUZI BLADE: bass, vocals

2.How long have you officially been the Hissyfits?

Since the summer of 1996.

3.Have any of you played in bands before?

SUZI: My first band was Catbox, a pop-punk trio in Houston. I sang and played bass.
PRINCESS: I've never been in a band before; I was waiting for the perfect combination of freaks, and found them in Suzi and P-Girl.
P-GIRL: I've been in lots of bands, but I don't remember many details...

4.There are two different versions of your 7" "All Dolled Up", which of the two is your favorite and why? (The difference is in the B-side -- one is "Something Wrong" b/w "Decorate," the other b/w "In My Dreams.")

P-GIRL: I like the one with "Decorate," 'cause it's moody and dark like most of the boys I end up with. Plus I wrote it!
PRINCESS: Well, my favorite is the one with "In My Dreams" on it 'cause it rocks out on one side and chills out on the other. Plus I wrote it!
SUZI: I like them both because they show our different sides. Plus my art work is on the inside of both!

5.Who are some of your influences and favorite bands?

PRINCESS: I like That Dog, Sleater-Kinney, Hole, Yo La Tengo, Sonic Youth, and all those cute shoe-gazing British boy bands.
P-GIRL: I like those too, but my favorite is the Pixies.
SUZI: The Butthole Surfers, The Judy's, Bessie Smith, PJ Harvey, and The Misfits -- that's a few!

6.What do you all like to do in your spare time?

SUZI: Draw, dance, and do the nasty.
PRINCESS: I like to bowl, play pool and chase boys.
P-GIRL: What spare time?

7.Do you have any new releases in the works?

ALL: Yes! Do you know someone who will finance this venture?

8.Do you have any crazed fans or stalkers?

ALL: Yes, but you are our favorite.

9.Would you like any crazed fans or stalkers?

ALL: There's always room for more!

10.Are you going on tour this summer?

ALL: Yes, we are planning on the upper West Coast and the South. Plus we continually play along the East Coast.

11.Can we plan on lots of cool Hissyfits products sometime soon?

ALL: We want to do panties, yo-yos and paper doll kits.

12.What does the future hold for the Hissyfits?

ALL: Hissyfits movie, world tour and theme park.
