Touch;
Adam rubbing my bare feet in front of his entire family. They were jealous,
I could see it in their eyes. |
March 11,
2000 I have no pictures, it was a camera free day. Which is too bad because I was looking fierce, straightened my hair, did my makeup in the bathroom mirror instead of my car. Ah, use your imagination. About a year ago Prima Donna decided she didn't see enough of her children. At that time, Sunday night was family night when Adam and I visited Big Daddy and had a good time with even better food. This made Prima Donna incredibly jealous, I don't think she understands why we enjoy the company of my parents and not her. Let me rephrase that, why we spend more time with my father than her. I can tell you why, it's because he treats us like people, it's not an adult/child relationship formed into something warped and twisted like her relationship with her children. Big Daddy and I like each others company, we don't have to talk, we don't have to do anything other than sit in front of the television in order to hang out. With Prima, it's different. At least where I'm involved. She gossips, tells things about people you aren't supposed to know and I'm sure she does the same to Adam and I. This being known, we just don't tell her anything anymore, simple as that. She is deeply immersed in the whole Native American spirituality, which is wonderful for her. She is a therapy queen, loves to analyse herself and you while eating dinner and god forbid you disagree. She'll revamp what she said until it fits what you say. So then she'll be right. It's frustrating and difficult to explain. You may know someone like this already. But I was talking about her feeling like she wasn't seeing enough of her children. Henceforth, all second Saturday nights will be known across our kingdom as... Second Saturday Family Night! Each dinner being at a different family members house, moving around in a circle so no one is imposed on too often. I should've run when I had the chance. Unfortunately, when this was evoked I still thought she was a good person to have in my life. We got along better than my other other mother, Bella Tuscany. That's all it took to please me then. How misguided I was. Adam worked late Saturday, so we were late to dinner as well. I stopped and picked up some good beer, a roasted chicken and a fresh baked loaf of bread on the way. Everyone was in a great mood, if not just a little low key. Our conversation bounces all over the place, all of us sitting around a table filled with different snack things at my brother in law's new condo, no real dinner tonight, just snacks, low light, relaxed atmosphere. I hadn't seen these people since my brother was born, we skipped the last two family nights, so I was bringing them up to date on the little bugger we call Connor. Me -"So, I go over every
few days to help out, get things straightened, do some dishes, walk the
dog, let her sleep, you kn-" And we let it slide. At this point, I should share with you that she was three sheets to the wind. Just like she is at every one of our family gatherings. I noticed that she had passed the point where I like to be around her. I think it's half the bottle of wince, and she was about 3/4 gone. About an hour later we hear screaming from outside, patrons from the party across the street, a couple. They were having the "get back in the car" argument. In seemed that the man was trying to chase down some people he'd had words with, and this girl didn't want to have anything to do with violence. Prima hops self righteously off the couch and goes outside, taking us all by surprise. Sanmitsu follows her out and we hear Prima, very pissed off; "Do I need to call 911? No? Then shut up!" And the girl got in the car and they left. Prima seemed very pleased with herself. Her children were furious with her for putting herself in the middle of a strangers argument, never knowing who's drunk with a gun. She got angry that they questioned her ability to handle herself. Prima - "I can handle it, I'm a WOLF!" For about 30 more minutes, Hepburn and I were discussing self protection. Hepburn is a incredibly beautiful girl that Sanmitsu has been dating for just about a year. I want him to marry this girl. As she and I were talking, Prima stands up, gathers her things and leaves. Leaving us to figure out what her problem was. We didn't give it much thought really, and we spent the rest of the evening drinking Gimlets and talking until 3 am. Adam and Sanmitsu had some deep down brother bonding shit going on, and Hepburn and I got pretty groovy too. We pulled her out her shell, and learned a lot about her. I think Adam and I are pulling out of the family night tradition from here on out. It's not worth the trouble it causes. But Hepburn can make a hellafied Gimlet!
