The Dog Whisperer.

Back to work.

I went home for lunch today instead of hitting the semi-annual sale at Victorias Secret. Right before I pulled into my driveway, there was a dog on the street. My split second assessment of the situation.
1)"Dog's not wet, rainy day, hasn't been outside that long."
2)"That would make it a neighborhood dog."
3)"I think I've got time to find his house."

So I grabbed the collar and Liz Clairborne belt/leash that I keep in the car for the weekly things like this that I do. Sweetest dog in the world, came to me and let me put the collar around her neck without a problem.

And we were off on our little adventure. At this point I refused to think this would take longer than my lunch break. It didn't.

The first door I knocked on told me that she thought the dog belonged at the big white house on the corner. So that's where I went.

Who should open the door but Paeden (can't remember last name). This being the young man who headed the popular organization of my middle school and high school. I was pleased to see that he still suffered from adolescent acne. Not that I don't, but my feeling still stands.

So yadda yadda yadda, he's just graduated from college with his degree in film. He's moving to California in a month and is still friends with all of the old popular gang.

It was stunning to be seen as who I am now as opposed to the person I was in school. It showed my how far I've come, without the advantages that Paeden had. Plus, he thought I was hot. In school, he wouldn't have looked my way for longer than 1 second. I did run with the popular group, so we knew each other. I was the token freak, the weird girl that was entertaining, who would do anything. Now I'm a stretching, waving, fragrant blossom. Serves him right.

I am so glad I was a late bloomer. Otherwise, I could have been with these types of men instead of the whole person that Adam is. Adam saw me for what I was, unlike Paeden and the other folks I ran with.

So I'm thinking about having lunch with him just to see what everyone else is doing. Funny, I honestly thought I held a grudge against them, but after seeing them, I have no inkling of a grudge in my body.
