"Thanksgiving in Haiku"
Fresh from the dryer
Warm sheets can't disguise the fact
That you're not in them.
That's how my thought formed
After reading a page of
Haiku film reviews....
Haiku Movie Reviews
Thanksgiving tells me
That I'm not really so bad
With little people.
I'm sorry, Credence,
The lake's too cold to swim in.
Let's throw rocks instead.
The dog doesn't know
Why we buy blaze orange vests
For giving her walks.
Shooting in the woods
Amidst the dying screams of
Camera batteries.
Straight through the evening
In a rusted but good car
Because I love you.
Thai food twice this week;
Now I know that I like it.
Where's the metaphor?
Not there to break bread
But your letter got to us--
We love you too, Q.
A game of worm war
Followed by storytelling;
We have come so far.
Has it really been
Forty-nine hours, two nights,
Three days by your side?
Coming back to here
I'm reminded that friends-wise
I'm spoiled rotten.
Thanksgiving has passed.
I give thanks for these two things:
Happiness and life.
