8.07.00: Chris Barron and the Give Daddy Fives and the Spin
Doctors: Who comes out on top?
You should know that it was recently announced by Staffan that
the Give Daddy Fives were planning to release an EP (see Chris Barron Band EP
coming soon! below). Now there is a new twist to this, and it involves the Spin
Doctors.
Todd Horton, who is in the Give Daddy Fives, reported to Staffan that Chris
is shopping around for a record deal, and the only way that a Give Daddy Fives
album would be released is if Chris got a record deal.
Todd also told Staffan that, despite rumors and "gut feelings", the Spin
Doctors have NOT broken up. New material has been recorded (see New Songs, new
album? below) and it will defiantly be Spin Doctors material. Everyone is still
in the band and Universal records is still behind them. Also, Aaron and Chris
aren't the only ones writing and recording songs in Aaron's studio. The Spin
Doctors are currently on hiatus but they might return this year, if the Give
Daddy Fives don't get a record deal. The Spin Doctors will test new material at
concerts if the GDF don't get a record deal. It seems that the future of the
Spin Doctors depends on what happens to the GDF.
Some of the material recorded for the GDF EP is "Who's that?", "Providence",
"When you're done", "Teddy" and "Cop that robber". July 2000 7.30.00: Chris Barron Band EP Coming soon!
The Chris Barron Band, aka Chris Barron and the Give Daddy
Fives, have already recorded an album that they are planning to release! More on
this, and an update on WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON WITH THE SPIN DOCTORS, coming
soon. Special thanks to Staffan for posting this information on the Spin Doctors
mailing list! June 2000 6.5.00: Shag 2
Chris Barron recently announced that he will be recording a
follow up to Shag sometime this summer in Aaron's studio. The album is currently
titled Shag 2. More on this as soon as Chris announces more. April 2000 4.24.00: New songs, new album?
The results are in, and Here Comes
The Bride was not exactly a success, according to Chris Barron. But that
doesn't stop the Docs from spinning!
Lead singer Chris Barron
and drummer Aaron Comess are writing new material and recording it,
Chris says.
"Aaron Comess
and I have been busy in the studio recording the best songs we've ever written
according to our friends."
Chris said on the Official Chris Barron
page.
And also, Lisa says that the rumor
that DAS/UNIVERSAL, the Spin's record label, would drop the Spin Doctors, was
pure fiction.
"they have a 4 album contract
with Universal. They are working on new material for a reason. Not to
worry."
