9.16.00: "Record Release Party" a bust
Earlier this month, it was announced that a "Record release party" would take place at the Babay Jupiter after the Give Daddy Five show. Well, Nick F. went there and reported that it was not what it seemed. Here's what he had to
say: I went into the city yesterday to see the GDF and w/ the intent of getting their CD, but it was not to be. What they meant by record release was he club where he played "Baby Jupiter" put out a CD w/ a bunch of artists from NYC including one track from GDF (cop that the robber). As usual they put on a great show but I was kind of disappointed about the CD. Oh well
(sigh) So far, no new news on a Give Daddy Five record
9.12.00: New deatails on "Best Of"!
Plus, Give Daddy Five shows now in Shorten format
More info on Best Of
Today, a few more small but important details were announced to the Spins fan community. First, in the Spins Email Digest, Shuan G. said:
Rumour is true that Entertainment Weekly claims that there will be a "best
of" CD released October 24th.
I haven't heard about it nor do I know what's on it.shaun.
But that's not all. Staffan also announced on the Spin Doctors Message board that the Best Of CD will include a previously un-released track. What is it, you ask? We don't know yet, but hopefully we'll know by October 24th. Keep checking back here for more
info.
GDF shows now available in Shorten format
David Landsberger announced today on the Spins Digest that the GDF shows he taped are now available in Shorten
format. Hey all. Just so you know, I put up a Chris Barron and the Give Daddy Five show up
on an FTP server in Shorten format. I highly recommend that those of you
with CD-Recorders download this. For those of you don't know, shorten is a non-lossy compression format
(unlike MP3 which throws out information and does not sound as good as the
original.) So if you download this and burn it to CD, your CD will be
exactly the same as the original. For those of you who do not have CD-Burners, maybe someone here will be
kind enough to download it and start a tree.
Either way, the CD is up for grabs (so to speak.) So login and get it.ftp to:

9.8.00: Best Of Spin Doctors mentioned in EW, Record Release Party?
Plus, info on Spin Doctors Online, and a new look for this page.
Best of?
Recently it was made known my Chris Barron that the Docs would be releasing a Best Of album. I've now heard it was mentioned in Entertainment Weekly. More info on this
ASAP.
Record Release party?
In other news, in the tourdates section at Chrisbarron.com it said on the Sept. 15th gig at the Baby Jupiter there would be a record release party. I suspect this means that GDF album IS coming, and soon. We'll
see.
Update on Spin Doctors Online
I've been asked the same question by lots of people lately: When is Spin Doctors Online coming? My answer is: This year. The fact is, I'm not sure when it will launch. Staffan is busy right now and doesn't have time for it, and I'm in the same boat. In the mean time, Staffan has put his page back up and renamed it "Fly in my
Glue".
New look for this page
Yep, I'm doing it again. I'm totally changing the layout. I've made new graphics and everything, and it's looking pretty damn good :-). Hopefully it will be up by the end of next week, but I'm taking my time on this, so no
promises...

8.11.00: Chris Barron announces possible "best of" album, confirms some news
Chris Barron wrote on his webpage: M'dears,
Upon some deliberation, Aaron, who as must of you know is the drummer of the Spin Doctors and I, Chris Barron decided to take a sabbatical from the Spins for a while and pursue our own projects. We both love the band so don't worry, we are not breaking up the Spin Doctors. Actually, keep your eyes peeled for a best of
record. Chris also confirmed the songs they had recorded (see Chris Barron and the Give Daddy Fives and the Spin Doctors: Who comes out on top?) but did not talk about an original Spin Doctors EP. Chris did promise, however, that more news is coming soon. We'll just have to wait and
see.
8.07.00: Chris Barron and the Give Daddy Fives and the Spin Doctors: Who comes out on
top?
You should know that it was recently announced by Staffan that the Give Daddy Fives were planning to release an EP (see Chris Barron Band EP coming soon! below). Now there is a new twist to this, and it involves the Spin Doctors.Todd Horton, who is in the Give Daddy Fives, reported to Staffan that Chris is shopping around for a record deal, and the only way that a Give Daddy Fives album would be released is if Chris got a record deal.Todd also told Staffan that, despite rumors and "gut feelings", the Spin Doctors have NOT broken up. New material has been recorded (see New Songs, new album? below) and it will defiantly be Spin Doctors material. Everyone is still in the band and Universal records is still behind them. Also, Aaron and Chris aren't the only ones writing and recording songs in Aaron's studio. The Spin Doctors are currently on hiatus but they might return this year, if the Give Daddy Fives don't get a record deal. The Spin Doctors will test new material at concerts if the GDF don't get a record deal. It seems that the future of the Spin Doctors depends on what happens to the
GDF.Some of the material recorded for the GDF EP is "Who's that?", "Providence", "When you're done", "Teddy" and "Cop that robber".7.30.00: Chris Barron Band EP Coming soon! The Chris Barron Band, aka Chris Barron and the Give Daddy Fives, have already recorded an album that they are planning to release! More on this, and an update on WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON WITH THE SPIN DOCTORS, coming soon. Special thanks to Staffan for posting this information on the Spin Doctors mailing
list!

4.24.00: New songs, new album?
The
results are in, and Here Comes The Bride was not exactly a success, according
to Chris Barron. But that doesn't stop the Docs from spinning! Lead
singer Chris Barron and drummer Aaron Comess are writing new material
and recording it, Chris says."Aaron
Comess and I have been busy in the studio recording the best songs we've ever
written according to our friends." Chris said on the
Official Chris Barron page.And
also, Lisa says that the rumor that DAS/UNIVERSAL, the Spin's record label,
would drop the Spin Doctors, was pure fiction. "they
have a 4 album contract with Universal. They are working on new material for a
reason. Not to worry."
