The unfortunate fate of Dr Nils Dyrkehest, Victorian-era scientist who meddled with things man was not meant to know. An illustration for a story I'm writing. This was pieced together from various period sources, and tinted a nifty sepia. Incidentally, the name comes from the Norwegian words for 'horse' (hest) and 'cultivate' or 'grow' (dyrke). Since in becoming a centaur, he 'grows a horse' I thought it a nice injoke.
