Flowerpicker
"During the summer, Laranlye wandered the highway medians, picking wildflowers which she then sold to expensive flower boutiques. The wealthy tourists bought the bouquets in great numbers, never suspecting they these were the selfsame flowers they sped past every day on their way to work."
Flowerpicker is a mix of painting and photograph. I think the flowers she's standing in are Indian Paintbrush, but I like to think of them as River Phlox. In the early Vermont spring, Phlox grows thick in the low places, by streams, and under railway bridges. In an interesting genetics lesson, they grow in patches of purple, white, and a hybrid lilac color, showing who seeded where from the previous year. Phlox has an intoxicating scent which fades rapidly after picking.
