My recipe for slumber / Is older than the Sphinx. / Cut forty tiddlies into halves / And you'll get forty winks. --Percy, of Allen's Alley. 23 days until my birthday! |
Saturday, April 17, 1999 The Weekend Those of you keeping track might have noticed that I didn't get very much sleep this week. About four hours Sunday night, none Monday night, about six Tuesday evening, and a few more Wednesday afternoon, then zilch Wednesday night, and a few scattered hours Thursday night and Friday morning. Generally speaking, I need eight hours a night, although I can function on six, provided that I make them up later. Shabbos lasts twenty-five hours, from sundown Friday, to nightfall Saturday. I was awake for about six of them. God, I needed that.
During my conscious moments, I read The Calvin and Hobbes Tenth Anniversary Book, which includes a running commentary by Bill Watterson, explaining his views on cartooning, his feelings on various aspects of the strip, how he drew the thing, and so on. Very interesting reading, which I highly recommend.
