Well, I managed to finish the thing about 5 yrs ago. I had a VERY large and powerful party at the end. I had to beef up all of the encounters, sometimes by 200%! The role call is:-
Stimpy J Bastardstone - 15th Male Dwarven Fighter. Loves his 2-Handed Axe
Joanna Guestfairer - 16th Female Human Bard - Who managed to set record of dying 6 times in the campaign. (Twice killed herself)
Helmdar Gorx - 15th Male Dwarven Fighter - Also an Axeman.
Zentilar Psirox - 14th Male Elven Wizard - Got VERY close with the Rockseers and is a virtual member of their clan now.
Relonor Yoegh'il'rymmin - 13th Male Drow Ranger - 2 Longswords and uses Finslayer (Had to alter it to not hate Drow)
Ragus Blackmayne - 14th Male Human Druid - Was one of the main healers.
Peregrin - 14th Male Human Paladin - The leader of the party. Hated the Illithids, was charmed multiple times and set the beheading record with his Vorpal Sword.
Szordrin Yoegh'il'rymmin - 15th Male Drow Wizard - Brother of the other Drow and heavily into Fireballs.
Snagger - NPC turned PC - 14th Male Dwarven Fighter - Yes, he lives!
Tagsaki - 14th Male Orge Mage Wizard - Was great extra firepower.
Pisirox - 12th Pixie Theif/Borg - KIA (Sort of, he is no longer in the party and is creating a Borg empire in the Spine of the World Mountains). He is annoyed he is cut off from the collective and has no electricity, but is expermenting with Magic to get power from it)
Their worst battle was with the Shadow Dragon (Who I had upped a few ages). After the battle, 6 members were between -1 to -10 hp, 4 were dead, and the only one standing was the Paladin! They went in too cocky, and I really knew how to fight with the Shadow Dragon.
Anyway, this was of course in 2nd Edition. In the next few weeks I'm going to run it in 3rd Edition for a new group.
Oh, and as for crossing the sea, one of the many side adventures I created had a folding boat in it. Hence, they just sailed it.
