Actually there -are- a few hints in NB concerning the wider world, much as it's more-or-less designed to be insertible into anything.

In the beginning, the NB world was NOT created by the Gods. It's more like Earth. The Halfcut Hills have fossils. This means that the world has had evolution both biologically and geologically, for at least 100 million years. So Krynn, for one, is not a potential NB world as written...

As for the surrounding area, civilisation comes from the west and doesn't seem to be a going concern to the north. To the south there's probably a sinkhole, chasm, or cliff leading to Fandruzsch the shadow dragon.

It's the east of Haranshire that seems most intriguing. There is some sort of elven forest with humans somehow attached to it. That's also where the fomorians and Broken Ones came from. I even suspect a connexion to the Plane of Shadow: a shadow dragon, tenebrous worms, derro specialties, warped magicks generally...
