After it was recommended on ENworld, I got the PDF of Night Below ($5!) from RPGNow.com. I'm in the
process of copying everything to a Word file and interspersing the 3rd ed conversions in the middle of
the text. I'm using the conversion notes from Darin's site and the "Illuminating the NIGHT BELOW" site.
My first question: "Capture them alive!" seems to be a pretty high EL -- 5 or 6 -- for the first fight of a
first-level party. I mean, sheesh, they haven't even had an opportunity to buy a healing potion!
Or maybe I'm used to the "Party of 4-6 adventurers" mindset. I seem to recall Night Below recommends
upwards of 8. Has anyone had a party fall to this encounter right off the bat? (I know I can use the feral
druid as a Deus Ex Machina, but I was kinda hoping I wouldn't have to resort to that right off the bat.)
I think I might drop one Archer and one Farmer from the encounter if I wind up running it with a gaming
group of less than six.
