Copymaster - Five by X
Little People Records

Listen kids. A long, long time ago, way before Arkangel copied Slayer, Seein' Red threw up their barricades and Youth of Today wasn't even sperm yet, there were also people making music! Now, they didn't have any distortions, hell most of them didn't even have an amplifier. So they played "acoustic" guitars. That's like a clean electric guitar, but without any electricity! I know it sounds strange, but even stranger: they weren't playing in a band! They just wrote their songs and accompanied themselfs on this strange wooden guitar. These people were playing music which sounded like blues, country, folk etc. That differs, but let's call 'em singer/songwriters, ok? Some of them were pretty succesfull and sold millions of records. There was a guy called "Bob Dylan" for instance who was actually quite famous. Maybe if you give your parents a little time they might remember those days!
OK, let's snap back to the present now. You know NRA don't you? These guys are really old too, so they still remember how they used to do it in the old days. And look now! One of their guitarplayers has started his own little singer/songwriter project. He called himself Copymaster and has put down four acoustic tracks to vinyl. One of these tracks (Inward) you might know, because it's a soloversion of the NRA song.
Well, what do I think of this 7". Mmh, it's a nice effort, but it doesn't really catch me by the throat. At best it reminds me a little of Neil Young, without ever getting even close to this dinosaur's genius. During "Inward" I can't help thinking "Ok, now bring in the rest of the band....". Both the guitarplaying and the vocals are pretty mediocre, and although the record is still listenable, this sure isn't getting grey at my turntable...
