Many people think thatyou have to be a Satanist to listen to Marilyn Manson.
This is not true. I know a few X-ians (Christians) who listen to him. They
may not agree with what he says, but they like the music. I was raised as a
Roman Catholic for 16 years, and I was given most of their sacraments and served
time as an altar girl. One day as I sat, half-listening to the preaching, I began
to question my religion. I questioned my beliefs. This was before I even had heard
of Marilyn Manson. But the more I questioned, the fewer answers I could find.
I located holes in my belief system at the time. I always thought not eating meat on
Friday was stupid. I hated getting up on Sunday when I would rather sleep. It all
came together. Christianity was stupid. Why should I have to spend my life being
so good? Good was boring. Good was dumb. I saw no point to denying myself things that
I wanted to do just in the off chance that there was an afterlife. At this point, I
am removed from that time in my life. I no longer consider myself to be a Christian.
Shortly after this time, I was introduced to Manson's music. The more I listened,
the more I realized that this was a band that was going somewhere. Marilyn was a man
with a plan. He wasn't going to sit around and let his life be lived for him, he was
going to do something about it. I admired him for that and resolved to open my eyes
more to the world around me, to see if I could find holes in more than just my former
religion. I discovered a lot about the world and about myself in this time of
soul-searching that I did. I also discovered a place online that would give me the legal
power to have my own religion, and I got myself ordained. The link is at the bottom of
this page. I am a legal Minister in my Church, and I can legally baptize, absolve
sins, sign divorce papers, and do marriages, among other things. I think I can absolve
sins as well, but my Church doesn't really recognize sins.
My religion, named Mansonism in honor of the Reverend Manson, is a combination of
beliefs from different religions. The one I base it mostly on would be Satanism.
I agree with the 9 Satanic Statements. I worship no one God, I am my own god.
There are no other gods before me. The only sin I would consider to BE a sin would
be the sin of forgetting one's self. If you lose sight of who you are and what you
want, that is bad. Conformity is bad. Cravings are to be fulfilled.
Desires are to be fulfilled. Deny yourself nothing. If it will make you happy, go right
ahead. But do so in moderation. Drugs can be good. I've never touched them, but if
they make you happy, go ahead. Just don't let it get away from you. When you lose
sight of everything but drugs, you've sinned. Everything in moderation is the key.
As for the afterlife, here is when other religions start to come into play.
I don't believe in Hell. Or Heaven, per se. Heaven as I see it is a place where you can do
whatever you want to for eternity, but you have to work to get there. I belive we go through
a series of lives. Each life you live, your soul collects experience. If you do badly in one
life, you live it over again. While you collect experience, you search for your soul mate. Everyone
has a soulmate. You find them in every life, and it is the same person. That
is why they are your soulmate, that strange "I know you from SOMEWHERE" feeling is probably because
you have met them in a past life. Some people have a circle of friends and enemies that follow them
through their lives, and they end up interacting with them for long periods of time. At the end of
your cycle, you are sent to live in a place slightly like the christian idea of Heaven, only here you
can do whatever you want as long as it does not infringe on the rights of others, such as having sex.
In christian heaven, you get no such bonus.
