*sigh* OK, I have simply to bow and scrape, as I have
no good reason for not having this up sooner. I even had the
strip drawn in time for me to have updated it back in October.
So what happened? Well, it all boils down to this...
I hate inking. I positively loathe it. I'd even
try to do what Piro @ Megatokyo
does and scan the pencils in. But my penciled artwork is even
worse than my inking job. So I was stuck. I didn't want to have
to fumble around with the rapidographs that I've been using,
watching ink blots pop out of nowhere, plus staining my hands
again and ending up signing my artwork with fingerprints. This
means more Photoshop time and basically a big hassle. And trust
me, this is a big factor in my motivation to keep this strip
going.
Then I remembered a particular style of inking pen
I'd seen someone using at the DAI meetings. And after checking a few shops,
I finally found it. It is the Sakura brand Pigma Brush.
This lovely piece of equipment is an ink pen with a brush tip.
I'd been wanting a more 'natural' feel to the inking of the strip,
but I'm even worse when I use ink brushes or quill pens. I bought
some of those, plus the Pigma Microns for straight
lines. Though I am still getting used to 'painting' my artwork,
I like what I see and highly recommend these pens.
ON OTHER NEWS: For those of you who
actually know the face behind the strip, I've had a full last
few months. I'm now the president of Denver Anime International. And soon after
that, the bank community room we use is being shut down so the
bank could expand business. Now I had the task of finding a new
meeting place (as did all the people who also used it for club
meetings). I will say this; you people whose clubs are based
out of colleges have it easy. I have managed to find a nice (and
free) spot, thanx to the Jefferson County government. But I was
really worried for a while. Lots of phone calls and web surfing
and e-mails. Such is the life of a club president. Be assured
these things will be touched on in OR ^_^
