UNTITLED

Once upon a time there lived a Princess. She was a normal Princess, with a rich daddy who was a King. She was beautiful of course and didn't really have a problem getting a boyfriend or anything as they were all after one thing anyway.

One morning the Princess sat up in bed and looked around her room in the palace - at all her expensive clothes and objects and began to think about her life and how she had everything and yet really nothing at all.

"Oh fucking hell, I'm fed up of being a Princess and owning all this crap and listening to all the bullshit that people tell me about myself." She said and rummaged under her mattress to find a dried out cigarette which she proceeded to light and puff anxiously away on..

"And I'm sick of having to act in such a stuck up way to please people who don't know me and only care about what I am to them and not me as a person... And I'm sick of this room and all the inherited crap from centurys ago which is supposed to mean something to me, but it doesn't. and this crown which I've had since I was 5 is tarnished and it all means nothing to me anymore." She said flicking her ash into a crystal vase with yesterdays fresh flowers in it from the palace garden.

"I don't want to live like this and I refuse to do so anymore" She said and then felt a sense of hopelessness as she realised she had no idea what she was supposed to do about it at all. The princess dropped her cigarette butt into the vase and slumped back into bed with a defeated sigh.

The Princess' chamber maid entered the bedroom with a fresh set of flowers,

"Good morning your ladyship" she said placing the flowers down on the bedside table

Then she walked over to the princess' curtains

"I don't want my goddam curtains open, how many times do I have to tell you I don't want them open? Are you so stupid that you can't even learn when you don't have to do something?" The chamber maid who was rather new, and young apologised

"I'm sorry, I just thought that today, you might want to let in the sun, it's a wonderful day, you should go out and get some fresh air.. it's rather stuffy in here" she stuttered and then busied herself with the flowers,

"Well, I don't want to let the sun in, and I don't want to go outside and if I did, you would be the last person who I would take orders from, I am not a child, you have no right to order me about."

"Sorry your ladyship, I only want the best for you of course, if you're happy inside, inside is where you shall stay ."

The chamber maid walked over to the sink and emptied the water from the vase and into the sink, collecting each cigarette butt that had been floating on top of the water and placing them into a rolled up tissue she had kept up her sleeve with a sigh.

"I'm not happy inside. Do I look happy? Being inside is just preferable to being out in the garden where everything is so seemingley perfect and yet if you look hard enough you can see the flowers strangled by the weeds that old dirty man that someone once deemed fit enough to be a gardener neglected to notice, I can't sunbathe without him leer at me, or without those whiney brats I am unfortunate enough to call my little brothers and sisters interupting the peace. And heaven forbid I'd ever be allowed out of the castle gates on my own ... It's all crap."

"Oh dear" said the chamber maid

"I know you think it's all champagne and caviar , but it isn't. It's fixed smiles and dreery stuffy old people with lecherous grins. It's not like the fun you have in the woodshed with good old Mr Bentley, who incidently is too old and ugly for you - you really should get some standards"

"So what are you going to do about it all then Miss?"

"I don't know, burn the whole fucking place down." the Princess said with a wry smile
