The events of Sept. 11, 2001 and the resolve to combat terrorism will always be with
us.
It has refocused our thoughts and ideas. Just as darkness defines light, so the oppressive nature of the Taliban help to define the Freedoms we Americans hold dear.
Some of these Freedoms include the freedom to dress how we choose and to choose our own form of recreation.
The Taliban enforced their own idea of "Modest Dress" and beat and jailed
those who dared to dress differently.
We Americans looked with horror at this invasion into the lives of the citizens of Afghanistan; yet we have been punishing those among us who dare dress outside of our traditional and cultural norms. I speak of Naturist and Nudist.
Those who disagree will speak of Morality and Decency - just as the Taliban did.
It is essentially the same to compell a person to wear a swim suit at the beach and to compell a woman to wear a Burqa.
