Godzilla vs. Pink Spider by Aluminum Siren The Tokyo tower stood silently in the chilly glow of
the midnight moon. The heavenly body cast it's silvery light, through a clear
sky, coating Tokyo in a white washed glow. The heavy steel of the tower creaked
and groaned in the slight wind. A nightingale alighted on one of the many
girders and burst into its most beautiful evening song. Unbeknownst to the tiny bird below the massive man
made structure, ten miles beneath the earth's crust, a man toiled in his secrecy
laboratory. The room was small and steamy. Its walls, painted red, cast their
feverish colour on the cheeks of their master. A thin line of sweat had gathered
at his brow as he bent over a delicate piece of equipment. Suddenly there was a small explosion and from the
smoke emerged a butterfly. The creator fanned away the smoke with his hands and
grimaced. "Damn it! Kyo!" His bellow echoed through
the cavern. Kyo ran into the room dressed in a white lab coat similar to that of
the mad scientist. A smear of blood ran down the front. "Yes? Yoshiki-san." Kyo asked grinning and
licking a bit of stray blood from one finger. "Damn it Kyo! It didn't work again!"
Yoshiki crossed his arms in a huff across his chest. "I'm sick of this not
working! Sick! Sick! Sick!" Yoshiki stressed each word with a kick of his
foot to the leg of the table he was working from. "You should do that. You liable to brake
something, or even worse, you could knock over some bottles and create some kind
of super-monster that would wreak havoc on Tokyo!" "Don't be stupid Kyo. There's nothing in these
bottles that can make anything more than a butterfly." Yoshiki swatted at
the insect as it flew around his head and sighed. "I'm never going to be
able to clone another hide." Yoshiki's head dropped and tears brimmed at
his eyes. Kyo sighed. He was used to Yoshiki's failures and
knew exactly what to do. He clung to the taller man's arm and pointed at the
table full of bottles and various cloning equipment. "Think of it Yoshiki-san. The next time could
be it! And if you gave up now you will never get another hide." He picked
of the clear acrylic box that housed a small hairbrush with a few very pink
hairs still clinging to its bristles. "Come on. Give it another try." "Well..." Yoshiki eyed the box.
"Tomorrow, I'm tired. I will sleep and when I wake I shall work with
renewed energy! And by God, I shall have my hide!" Kyo shook his head sadly and let go of his master's
arm. "All right. You go to bed and I'll take care of
cleaning up here." Yoshiki nodded his head serenely and turned to
leave. He paused for a moment at the door of the laboratory, in front of the
massive shire to hide erected next to it. Candles flickered on all sides and
cast strange jumping shadows on Yoshiki's pale face. He looked up at the huge picture of hide's smiling
face, his pink hair standing out wildly from his head. "Tomorrow..." Yoshiki mumbled under his
breath. Then he stood on his tiptoes gave the picture a quick kiss and bounced
out of the room. "Good night hide!" Kyo shook his again head sadly. And they thought HE
was the mad one! *** Kyo winced in the other room as another explosion
sounded from Yoshiki's laboratory. The white acrid smoke curled into the room
and an ant five inches long scampered across the floor. "Kyo!" Kyo put down the book he was reading and walked
carefully into the other room. "Yes?" "It didn't work again!" Yoshiki glared at
the table and kicked it. "I thought we talked about this kicking thing
yesterday. You might bra-" Kyo was cut off as Yoshiki wound up his skinny
body and gave the unfortunate table another good kick. Bottles toppled over and
there was a loud explosion. The concussion pounded painfully in Yoshiki and
Kyo's ears. Dark smoke filled the room. Kyo coughed and reached
over casually to turn on the exhaust fan and the smoke was quickly sucked out.
Yoshiki surveyed the damage. Broken bottles and equipment was scattered across
the badly scarred table. The box containing hide's hairbrush was charred, it's
contents destroyed. Yoshiki began to cry. "See, I told you that would happen!" Kyo
said. "Oh! Now I can never clone hide!" Yoshiki
wailed. He sat on the edge of the table and put his face in his hands and cried.
While Kyo tried his best to comfort his bereaved master a tiny, pink spider,
crawled into Yoshiki's lab coat pocket. Kyo watch began to beep. He checked it and shook
Yoshiki's shoulder. "Hey, can you cry later? We have to be at the
nuclear power facility in twenty minuets." "But it's rush hour! We are sure to be
late!" Yoshiki said as he dashed out the door. "Hey wait for me! Don't you want a clean lab
coat?" Kyo called after him. "No time! Come on Kyo!" Kyo grabbed two clean lab coats and followed Yoshiki
out to the car. *** Yoshiki dashed from the car to the security check at
the Tokyo Nuclear Power Center with Kyo doggedly at his heels. The security
officer checked their badges and gave their dishevelled appearance a once over
before admitting them. "Quick Kyo in here!" Yoshiki motioned for
Kyo to follow him into a washroom. "What? Now? I hardly think that this is
appropriate..." "Not that!" Yoshiki snatched one of the
clean lab coats from Kyo. "I can't tour the facility looking like a lab
experiment gone bad!" Kyo shrugged and help Yoshiki on with his new jacket
before changing his own. "Here." Yoshiki shoved the two tattered
white garments into Kyo's hands. "Dispose of these and let's be on our
way!" Kyo tossed the jackets carelessly into the
wastebasket. They didn't quite land all the way in; the sleeve of one flopped
over the edge of the bin. When the door slammed shut the pink spider emerged
from his hiding place, crawled down the sleeve and let out a line to slide
gracefully to the ground. It skittered across the floor and slipped under the
door. The spider paused a moment before it dashed away down the hallway. *** Yoshiki nodded with approval as he inspected the
main control room of the plant. He bent to check a small light on one of the
consoles. When he looked up again his eyes were met with the sight of a
dark-haired young man dressed in a knee-length white skirt, blue blouse, and
white lab jacket. His hair was twisted up carefully and he held a clipboard in
one hand. "Yoshiki-san, I presume?" The youth asked.
Yoshiki straightened and coughed. "Why yes and you are?" "Toshiya." Toshiya held out his hand to
Yoshiki who shook it eagerly. "It's a pleasure to meet you!" "It's nice to meet you too. This is Kyo, my
assistant." Yoshiki gestured at Kyo, who was staring out the large glass
window that over looked the nuclear reactors. He looked at Toshiya momentarily,
yawned and went back to staring out the window. Toshiya began to discuss the very technical aspects
of running a nuclear power plant when an alarm began to sound. The control
consoles lit up with diodes all flashing warnings. "What's happened?" Yoshiki asked. Toshiya
leaned over one of the controls. "There is a foreign body in the reactor!" "What is it?" "I don't know. I'll see if I can get a visual
on it." Toshiya fiddled with some controls and an image appeared on a
nearby monitor. It was a map of the reactor. A tiny black spot wriggled in the
corner of the screen. "This is just an image created by the computers
sensors. Hmm... I'll see if I can zoom in on the object." Toshiya pressed a few more buttons and the screen
zoomed in on the dark spot. It's outline came sharply into focus. "What is it?" Yoshiki asked. "It looks like a spider." Kyo said
casually. "A spider? How did a spider get in there?"
No one had time to answer Yoshiki's question as the
alarms began to sound louder. Above it all a cracking sound and the squeal of
rending metal could be heard. "What happening?" Yoshiki shouted at
Toshiya. "It...It's growing!" Toshiya shouted in
surprise. All three of them stared out of the window. They
watched as the pink spider grew, filling the room. It squeezed against the
walls, cramped in the much too small space. "It can't grow much larger! The room is too
small." Yoshiki said. As the last words left his lips, the spider thrust
out its legs, tumbling down the walls of the building and tossing aside bits of
caved in roof. "Looks like you were wrong." Kyo
snickered. "Shut-up Kyo!" "No, look! I think Yoshiki-san was right! The
spider has appeared to stop growing!" Toshiya said with fascination. Then the spider turned to them, peering anxiously in
the window. It lifted one delicate leg and brought smashing down through the
center of the control room. "Run for your lives!" Yoshiki screamed.
Yoshiki ran out the front of the building while Kyo and Toshiya ran into a
nearby broom closet. The ceiling of the control room suddenly collapsed in,
right in front of the door. They were trapped! Yoshiki ran out into the street. He had to find some
way to stop the monster! Where did that thing come from anyway? "It came from your lab." "Of course, my lab!" Yoshiki snapped his
fingers. "It was created when you kicked that
table." "Of course, kicking the table!" "It followed you here and grew from exposure to
radiation." "Of course, exposure to..." Yoshiki's
voice dropped off and he turned to face the man who had been talking to him.
"Hey! Who are you?" The figure stepped out of the shadows and it was...
the security guard! "My name is Kaoru." "Well Kaoru. How do you know so much about my
lab and this spider." "Well you see... at the time I was visiting
with Kyo and, well it's not really important how I know. We have to find a way
to stop this monster!" Yoshiki nodded and pointed suddenly. "Oh no! It's headed for Tokyo Tower!" "We have to stop it!" *** Yoshiki and Kaoru ran tirelessly after the pink
spider. The rosy arachnid picked it's way carefully through downtown Tokyo, as
if to try to do as little damage as possible. It succeeded for the most part
only squishing the odd pedestrian here and there. "Odd." Yoshiki remarked as they paused to
catch their breath. "It stops every few moments and seems to look in the
windows of the buildings." "Yes. It seems as if it's looking for
something, or someone." Kaoru answered. Almost immediately afterward a
scream filled the air. Yoshiki and Kaoru ran around the corner and saw that the
spider had pulled down the wall of an apartment build and was reaching inside
with one long spindly leg. The screams grew louder as the spider withdrew it's
leg and revealed that it was holding a very beautiful young man. He was dressed
in a long lace and satin nightgown. His reddish hair just brushed his shoulders
and moved wildly as he waved his arms in panic. Yoshiki and Kaoru ran towards the decimated
apartment building, leapt through the open front and pounded up the stairs.
Kaoru threw open the door to one apartment. They rushed inside to find a
handsome young man dressed in black satin pajamas, re hair cascading down his
back. "Help!" The young man yelled. "What happened here?" Yoshiki asked. "Well... we were just... uh... anyway, and this
huge spider comes along and rips the front off the building, reaches inside and
takes Shinya!" "Hey wait!" The young man and Kaoru turned
to Yoshiki.
"If it was radiation that made Pink Spider the
way he is now, then it must be radiation that will put him back!" "That makes too much sense." Kaoru said.
"We have to get back to the nuclear plant!" "Hey! What about me? That thing still has
Shinya!" The young man nearly shouted. "Well... uh... Mr..." Yoshiki started. "Die." "Why don't you just come along? We'll need all
the help we can get!" Kaoru said. Die nodded, slipped on his slippers and dashed out
the door with his new companions. *** Yoshiki dashed around the battered control room of
the nuclear power plant, flicking switches and pushing buttons. He beat his hand
against the console, the sounds echoing the dull thud through the room. "Damn it! Where is Kyo?" "Who?" Die and Kaoru asked with interest. "Kyo. My assistant." Yoshiki paused to
think. "Oh that's right, he was trapped in the closet. We have to get him
out!" Soon all three men were hard at work digging the
rubble out from in front of the door. When the last of the pebbles were tossed
aside Yoshiki stepped forward and flung open the door. "Kyo! I..." Yoshiki's eyes practically
bugged out of his head as he saw Kyo and Toshiya wrapped around each other
kissing, in some later stage of undress. "Kyo, now is not the time for
that!" Kyo looked out the door and saw Kaoru and Die
standing there with similar bugged-eyed looks on their faces. "Kyo, it's you!" Kaoru said shakily. "Kyo... How could you?" Die said faintly. "You know him?" Yoshiki asked. "Well... uh..." Kaoru and Die stuttered. "Never mind that!" Yoshiki said
matter-of-factly. He dragged Kyo out of the closet as he was slipping back into
his lab coat. A meek and slightly rumpled Toshiya followed. "We have to
save Tokyo from Pink Spider!" "We have to bring him back here so we can use
the radiation from the plant to shrink him back down to size." Kaoru said. "But how will we do that?" Toshiya asked. "I can only think of one way." Kyo said
grimly. "We must called Godzilla!" "Oh, do we have to?" Yoshiki whined. "Yes." "Oh all right. Go ahead." Kyo leaned forward and flipped the cover up on a
large red button labelled Godzilla. He pressed it eagerly and waited. "Don't forget about Shinya." Die fretted. "Nobody's forgotten about him Die." "Okay, just checking." On the monitor they watched with horror and
fascination as Godzilla rose from the sea and began to walk towards Tokyo. As
soon as he was near enough to the Tower, Kyo pulled out a microphone and began
to speak. The sound of his voice echoed through down town Tokyo, as it was
connected to the loud speakers of the Tokyo Tower. "Godzilla! We need you to move Pink Spider
closer to the nuclear power plant! Please help us save Tokyo!" Shinya, who had fainted in the grip of Pink Spider
suddenly, perked up. "Kyo? Is that you?" Yoshiki, Kaoru, Toshiya and Die all gave Kyo a
withering look. "Him too?" Kyo shrugged. "What can I say?" Having seen Godzilla coming, Pink Spider set down
his beautiful victim on the top of a nearby radio station's building. Shinya ran
for cover behind one of the large air conditioners on the roof. Pink Spider fought Godzilla vainly. It whipped at
him with its legs and shot it's glowing radioactive silk at it. But Godzilla
countered every move, swinging his tail and showering Pink Spider with blasts of
electricity from his mouth. It seemed that Godzilla was going to win and Tokyo
would be saved! The great lizard wound up his tail from one last swing but he
missed, smashing into the Tokyo Tower. The steel structure tumbled to the
ground. Sparks flew and buildings were crushed. A giant explosion sounded and a
fire broke out burning everything in its path! And then... *** "Kyo!" Toshiya pounded on the door of
Kyo's bedroom. "Kyo! I heard a crash. Is everything all right?" "Everything's fine Toshiya." Kyo called as
he bent to gather up the stray pieces of his broken toy. "My model of the
Tokyo Tower just fell over." "What are you doing in there? It sounds like a
war zone!" "Nothing, just cleaning up some of my
toys." "Well try to be less noisy!" "Okay!" Kyo picked up the mess of the
broken Tower and a few stray action figures. Yoshiki had fallen out of the
shoebox that was the 'control room'. Kyo picked up a large rubber pink spider
and a Godzilla figure and set them inside the shoebox. After clearing a few more
things, he picked up the action figure that served as Yoshiki. "Time to go back in your box Batman. We'll
finish this later."
