History: The story of Ben Reilly while one of the deepest, hardest to understand stories that kept getting deeper and deeper was at the same time one of the best stories in the Spiderman series. Ben Reilly, the Scarlet Spider, was at first introduced into Spiderman books as the original Peter Parker. He and Peter met up, and discovered that Peter was a clone of his. Thus explaining why they both had the same powers. He and Peter began to unravel the mysterious path of the pair, and discovered a man had cloned Ben as a guiney pig. Deeper into the rabbit's hole, they discovered that Ben, currently still Peter Parker, was not the original Peter, and that the other Peter Parker was the original. Then Peter, Scarlet Spiderman, changed his name to Ben Reilly, dyed his hair, and began wearing the Scarlet Spider costume thus not to be confused with the original Spiderman. Ben and Peter treated each other as brothers, became really close, and they fought many battles side by side. They fought the man who cloned them, side by side. Eventually the man died, and they never found out how they were cloned or why. Ben died saving Peter, and to this day, Peter doesn't mention or think back to him, although his mind is surely remembering those great days, when he had a brother, who shared his abilities, and knew what he was going through. |
