Marvel Comics' Spidey: A Universe X Special was supposed to hit comic stores in late November. But the book was late, and for an odd reason.
There was a "hidden message" planted in the background on page 28 of the comic. A set of books are seen on a bookshelf, and if you read down the spines of the books, a message takes out all it's got on recent Marvel Editor-in-Chief Bob Harras. The books read; "Harras, ha ha, he's gone! Good riddance to bad rubbish. He was a nasty S.O.B."
Marvel elected to shred the book when the message was found. But a few copies made it into circulation via Diamond Comics Distributions' "First Look" program, a service that sends one copy each of all next week's books to stores that subscribe to the program. A few copies were also shipped to Europe. A new, corrected version of Spidey: A Universe X Special will ship soon. Early reports have the nicknamed, "Harras" version selling for anywhere between $30 and $75.
