The Spidey Era
 The Ultimate books have changed the comic book industry as we know it. Even if you don't read them, or any Marvel books, they've reflected on the whole industry. Although the Spiderman Ultimate book has had the biggest effect out of all of them, that's not what has started this new Spidey Era. If you remember, this time, about six months ago many things were different then today. The Spider-man books were on the bottom of everyone's to get list, and they weren't all the best anyone's ever seen. In fact, most people considered them as low as the Archie comics. (ok, so maybe nothing goes that low) But, what is going on in the Spider-man aspect that makes him so popular?; let's see...
Everyone is interested in the Ultimate's version of Shocker, Kingpin, Green Goblin and so on, and why would any Spidey fan not be so interested, it's fun to see different versions of something you love. The books sell millions of copies a month, and each issue gets sold out, and rockets in price, currently, what is going on? As of right now, all Spidey fan-boys are awaiting the arrival of Ultimate Spider-Man #9, and with it to come the new version of the Kingpin! As exciting as this is, there's more, Spider-Man is returning to Fox! What? Spidey back on prime time tv, on Saturday mornings at 10? Yeah, after so many years, it's back from the grave, replacing the new dissapointment of Spider-man Unlimited. Everyone keeps talking about the return of the show, seeing them all at one time, but now seeing them again, brings back great memories.
Those events, in no particular order of importance, have created the beginning of a new era of comics, the Spidey Era. The uprising has begun, and Spidey is back on his way to the top, as if he wasn't there already. The only thing to do, is keep watching the changes, and try to keep your heart from beating so fast, even though you like the feeling, from seeing them change. What else is so big, to start the uprising of the Spidey Era? Maybe it's the return of the good regular books. They don't suck anymore, Cambell has been doing the covers to Amazing Spider-Man with great artwork on the inside, and on the inside of Peter Parker Spider-Man. Straczynski is also doing a heck of a good job introducing new characters, and changing the plot to give Spider-Man a different daily routine.
