I just started doing sculpture a few years ago, and working in three dimensions has been quite the experience for me. My first sculpture class was at American University under Avis Betton. I loved scupture, and signed up for the advanced studio class with Mark Oxman. Class with Mark was an experience in and of itself...a friend of mine described him best, as "a grown-up Peter Pan."
I work mostly in plaster, and do both figurartive and abstract pieces. I use rocks in some of my work. I would love to cast a couple of pieces in bronze, but I definitely can't afford that now.
It will take a while for me to put up most of my sculptures. I only have a very small piece with me currently, and I haven't gotten around to photographing it. An unfinished sculpture of a horse, a bust of a Filipino girl, and an abstracted wave sculpture are being stored for me in Georgia. I did manage to get a picture of one of my 'rock garden' pieces while I was at home in Colorado over Christmas, which you can view below. I know it's not much, but more is on the way.
