The picture above was taken shortly after the funeral by Susan Jorgensen. Please visit her by clicking on the image.

The colours and layout of these pages may look familiar to you. That's intentional. This page is an In Memoriam for Webring.org, which ceased operations on September 5, 2000. The Take-Over was called a fiasco by Tucows recently. (see the link to their article on Page One)

I tend to feel the same, and therefore I made these pages, to help resource the Ringmasters and Ringmembers community.

Page One is mainly dedicated to the humour around the issues. This Page also has most links to others writing about the issues.  Page Two attempts to address some of the more serious issues. Page Three extends the issues, and is interspersed with some humour (with a u, because I live in Australia). Page Four tries to capture the events at WebRingNews, and Page Five shows all the Protest Navbars.

This ring is for the group of Ring Leaders whose rings (also known as webrings) are works of love. We are leaders who tie sites together to form small communities whose sites exist all over the world. Many of us previously created our rings at Webring.Org until Yahoo! destroyed the system and creating something much less significant.

This is one of the newest Web Rings at Ringsurf.com. Its name is based on a Yahoo! login name by James S. Huggins, who took part in our discussions at WebRingNews, the discussion board about the changes to the Web Ring system. The Ring was founded by SugoiMog, another Ringmaster. You will also find this WebRing when you visit the WebRings WebRing Portal menu via the Healing Spaces Main Site selection (above). We have, under the "Because Webring Is Broken webring" several links to this Site. You find the same links on Page One. If you're travelling the Ring, please leave/exit via this page again.

Comments by the Ringmistress of this Web Ring: "I am a victim of Yahoo's Hooliganism. I was once a happy ring mistress of several robust and healthy webrings that were serviced by the irreplaceable Webring.org. This company invented the concept of a webring system thanks to the genius of Sage Weil.
For those that may not know, a webring is a group of similar sites which are linked together to form a ring. I have yet to find another service to match its supreme functionality or beauty in design and now it is gone forever. When Yahoo acquired Webring, they decided the perfectly functional system needed a Yahoo type overhaul. What they did was hack, chop, and stab the system to its death. On September 5, 2000 (now known as "Black Tuesday"), the current system was unveiled. The new Yahoo!Webring system that they have created barely functions and life signs are critical! "

Comments by the Ringmaster of this Ring: With the nature of Yahoo! and their Socialist view of how we should all be the same, THIS ring started. Not only did they royally SCREW up a good thing, but they took away everyones identity with that damn SSNB.
