It was the big golf weekend at the Twin Rivers golf course 2 years ago. We just finished our round for that day and were settling in back at the cabins with a bar-b-cue and a few cold ones. We were swapping stories about the day's events; how John and Joe went off the cart path and nearly hit a tree, how Darrell and Barry drank a beer a hole for the full 18 holes, how Tom got the cart stuck in the mud and we all had to push him out. Real Tiger Woods or Jack Nickalus type stories. Then Tom starts to share the secret of his flop shot. He said he could hit a ball nearly straight in the air and have it drop down just out in front of him. To prove it, he gets under the telephone wires and says he's going to shoot it up and over the wires and have it drop a few feet out. He lines up and shots. But instead of going up and over the wires, it goes like a bullet, straight across the horseshoe pitch and hits a car parked near another cabin leaving a big dent in the fender, just missing 4 people who were standing near the car. The only thing flopping was us down on the ground laughing. The people who owned the car looked over at us then at the car. We told Tom he had to go over but he wanted some of us to go over with him. "Not likely" we said, "it was your shot". So he goes over, talks with the guys for a few minutes and comes back for his checkbook. They said that for $200 they'd forget it happened. We never did get to see the flop shot actually work.
