The Timeline of Krynn
Astinus of palanthus, in his Iconochronos, divides history into two parts: AC (Alt Cataclius, or "after the Cataclysm") and PC Prae Cataclius, or "before the Cataclysm). So many records were destroyed by fire and waterthat history before the Cataclysm is at best a series of error-ridden conjectures.
However, a recent find from the files of the noble scholar Sir Tracy solves two "PC mysteries." His records reveal a Third Dragon War, which Huma Dragonbane ended a millenium later than once thought, and state that the Rose Rebellion took place in 1775 PC, not 1225 PC.
First, we assessed the question of the new Dragon War. Clearly the reason that two and not three Dragon Wars had been recorded proir to the Cataclysm is that humans were not involved until the second and third (previously the First and Second) Dragon Wars. The first Dragon War involved only elves battling the Dragons. Counting this First Dragon War, Huma fought not in the Second but the Third Dragon War, in 1060 PC. Thus, until now, Huma's legend had been misplaced by a thousand years.
Secondly, a 550-year discrepency existed between the actual and the supposed dates of the Rose Rebellion. When researching the kender, Sir tracy learned why. He noted that kender history progressed from 250 PC to 400 PC to 800 PC- that is, it went backward! he realised that these were Time of Light dates; 250, 400, and 800 in the Time of Light equal 2750 PC, 2600 PC, and 2200 PC, respectivly. this confusion also had occurred with reguard to the Rose Rebellion. Vinas Solamnus led this rebellion not in 1225 PC, but in 1225 Time of Light, which translates into 1775 PC.
there are some who, incredibly, disagree with even Astinas's recounting of history. If some of the songs and tales recorded elsewhere in this book appear to be at odds with the ageless one's scribing, it may be attributedto the stubborness of certain races to give up their longstanding legends, or to the inadequacies of oral tradition.
Age of Starbirth
The HighGod Awakens. Out of the chaos, there comes thought and being- the HighGod. With celestial hands, the HighGod draws the plans for a new realm and writes them in the Tobril.
The Gods are called. into the Beyond, the HighGod calls. Two beings answer; one of light, and one of darkness. The King and Queen of Wyrms, Paladine and Takhisis, seek greatness in the chaos. They abandon their twining struggles and work together to create a new place to rule.
Gilean is Drawn Forth. Out of chaos, out of time, the HighGod summons a third god; Gilean, greatest sage. Gilean alone is found worthy to bear the HighGods plans for the universe. he recieves the tobril and pledges to serve the Balance between Good and Evil for all time. Then, the highGod departs, for the planning is done, and creation is about to begin.
Reorx and The Companion Gods Come. The three gods summon helpers. The greatest of these is Reorx"Give of yourself" he says, "and I will tame the chaos." From the gods, Reorx forges a mighty hammer and smites the chaos. Sparks fly from it and light the heavens-Stars!
Krynn is Made. Reorx shapes a great globe and separates land from sea, light from dark, heaven from soil. Then, the other gods bless krynn with plants, beasts, seasons, weather, and untold beauty.
Dragons are made. Paladine and Takhisis guide reorx and make Five rulers of the World. Drawn from the elements and encased in frames of metal, these are the Dragons. But the Dark Queen corrupts them, tarnishing their metals.
