How did Diagnosis Murder start?
With three made-for-TV movies: Diagnosis Of Murder, The House On Sycamore Street and A Twist Of The Knife. They were filmed in Vancouver.
What happened when Dr. Jack Stewart and Delores Mitchell left at the end of season 2?
Jack moved to Colorado and opened a private practice. He currently works in the mornings, then skis the rest of the day. Jack was replaced by a new character, Dr. Jesse Travis. Scott Baio played Jack, and although he has been repeatedly asked to return, he refuses with no reasons given. However, no mention has been made as to what happened to Delores.
Why did Norman Briggs leave?
The character was becoming increasingly difficult to write for, so he left at the end of season 4. No explanation was given, except that he was injured in "The Murder Of Mark Sloan" and presumably went away to recuperate.
Are any characters married?
Mark's wife Katherine died of cancer a little over 10 years ago. Amanda was married to Colin Livingston, an air force pilot, but they divorced sometime between seasons 4 and 5. Steve, Jesse, Norman, Delores and Jack have never been married.
Are any cast members married?
Yes. Dick Van Dyke was married and has four children: Christian, Barry, Stacy and Carrie Beth. He now lives with Michelle Troilla in Malibu.
Barry Van Dyke is married to Mary and they have four children: Carey (22), Shane (19), Wesley (14) and Taryn (11).
Victoria Rowell is divorced with two children, Maya and Jasper.
Charlie Schlatter is married to Colleen and they have two young children.
