Mutation

(I'm writing this at 6.26 am - it's still night!) Sort of a cross between Alien and Carpenter's The Thing. Charlton Heston walks into a kind of bathroom, all action, all confidence, and the place changes in to an ancient chamber (shades of Conanian design) where an ungainly creature tries to grab him. It's like a big babboon, but different, with a pointed, elongated head and no fur. The creature somehow smacks itself into Heston's face, consuming him - or becoming a mutation of him, gradually changing, getting smaller. The creature strains at its mutation, grimacing, contracting horribly deep impressions in its forehead and ribs. It no longer looks remotely like Heston (ha ha!). The chamber also changes to become something organic. It seems to me now that the whole scene is of some kind of childbirth ritual rather than of mutation. There are now two creatures in the chamber with the 'child', very indistinct, like half-formed embryos, 'mother' and 'father', I think. The child moves into its mother's arms (?) and the three seem to slide off a mounting showing the circular design of a Renaissance-stanced creature similar to the straining mutation. This may be a creation myth or God or something, and the final product may be centuries on from the first mutation I described. I dunno.

The next bit had the floor closing over the scene and I'm having a shower, aware of the 'creation' below but nonchalant.

Now the human race is dwindling. There is something like the hunt scene from Planet of the Apes, everyone is dying off, getting killed by, I assume, the mutants. Then there's just one kid left, and he realises the balance is being damaged, that the mutation has somehow taken all the humans into itself (themselves?). The kid seems to appeal to God, saying, "You can't do it. We both belong to you!" I'm not sure whether his opponant/s are/is the mutation or whether the mutation is God, whether He is still omnipresent or the end product of both humans and mutations.
