In an attemp to restrict the flow of information about the Agency and its operations, a website staffed by their own staff was closed down.
In an internal communication called Snapshot issue 7 of April 2000 I quote
" In february this year, a website was discovered on the Internet that was supposedly hosted by current CSA client relations officers. It used the official CSA logo as the central image, and also as the background wallpaper.
It stated that its intention was to give free advice, information and answers about the Child support Scheme, and any general information 'otherwise obtained direct from CSA'.
According to the Webmaster, the site cpuld offer our clients better information than they would receive by contacting CSA. The reasons were that legitimate CSA officers were too busy answering phone calls to want to help clients, and that the people dealing with clients were possibly not the best people to deal with those problems anyway! Hardly a glowing recommendation of the calibre and commitment of our staff.
After taking legal advice, CSA contacted Geocities, the host company of the site. We outlined the reasons we wanted the site to be removed, and a couple of days later they deleted it from their server"
