SHOW: Oct. 20, 1999
PLACE: Wichita, KS
Finally, Coal Chamber came back to Wichita!!! They
were scheduled to be there in August on the ICP tour,
but then they canceled b/c ICP are a bunch of
worthless fucks...who wants to see that ICP trash
anyway? The lineup was Coal Chamber, Slipknot, and
Dope, Amen was a no-show tonight.
I was impressed by the turnout, I used to think I was
one of the only serious Coal Chamber fans from around
here, most of the people I know say they're "KORN
wannabees"....stupid fuckers don't know that they are
100 times better than KORN live!! Dope opened up the
show, and got the ball rollin, I'd never seen them
before, and thought they were pretty good.
Slipknot was next, and they totally destroyed the
place in their typical chaotic manner....breaking shit
diving in the crowd and moshin during dope, and
basically destroying the stage. All I can say is
they're good at what they do.....whatever you wannacall it......
Coal Chamber was next......they opened with the
Halloween theme music....then rocked the place,
blazing through "Loco" and "Big Truck," Meegs, Mikey,
and Nahdja crankin out the music with Dez's vocals
roaring along. Then they stopped for a second, and
started to play "Not Living" then Dez stopped and said
"Does anyone know what this song is about?" and I
yelled "US!!!" real fucking loud, so then he came down
and was like "what did you say?" and I yelled "us"
again. Then Dez goes "It seems we have a prophet among
us, what do you mean by us?" Then I went "The WHOLE
FUCKING FAMILY!!" and Dez was like hell ya, the
"WHOLE FUCKING FAMILY" then they started playing "NotLiving"
After that they played "Bradley" and "Untrue" which is
one of my favorites off of Chamber Music. Meegs was
playing right in front of me going crazy as I was
yelling and singing right back, going just as crazy.
At the end of the song, he came down to me and handedme his pick and smiled!!
From there, they continued to rock the place, playing
"Tyler's Son" sending out a positive message to do
something for someone smaller than you, which kinda
ended in a little scare, as Meegs walked over to the
side of the stage and it collapsed and he fell. The
scary part was there were two huge monitors(10'or so)
right there, and they almost fell on him. The
foundation must have been weakened from Slipknot
climbing up on the monitors and diving into the crowd.
I started to climb over, bound and determined to save
meegs, but some security moved to stop me, but
fortunately some of them noticed and caught the
monitors. The funny thing, is Meegs kept playing the
whole time not missing a beat as they went into"Pig"!!!
They also played "No Home" "First" "I" and "Clock"
then they ended on "Sway" Quite a show, if I do say somyself.....
