There is an Oxford Kansas branch of the family descended from Morris Cheuvront that doesn't seem to be mentioned on this site.
To confuse matters, the branch has a "Maurice" Cheuvront in the next generation.
The roots of this branch are mentioned on page 7 of "A Brief History of the Cheuvront Family In America" on this site, i.e., "Morris Cheuvront (s/o Caleb and Rebecca Covert Cheuvront) ".
Jesse Cheuvront is not mentioned in the page 7 discussion. He was a son of Morris, and a brother of Belle, and he is my great grand father. I never met him, but he is buried in Oxford Kansas, and my other relatives remember him. I am certain that he existed.
Here is the history that I have from our family bible:
Morris Cheuvront was born Sept. 2, 1819 in Virginia. He married Harriet M. Preston Born April 11, 1824 in Maryland. At least two of Morris and Harriets children lived in Oxford Kansas - Belle (Virginia Belle) and Jesse (our great granfather).
Jesse was born March 9, 1858 in Bridgeport, W. Virginia. He died October 7,1950 in Oxford Kansas. Jesse was married to Sarah Augusta Meehan in La Junta, Co. on June 6, 1884. The children of Jesse and Sarah who did not die in infancy are: Loyola(Lola), Maurice (the "Maurice in question"), Alice, Elmo, and Thomas (my grandfather, born 1901 in Oxford Kansas).
Lola, Maurice, Elmo and Thomas lived out their lives in Oxford Kansas. They died in the late 1960s and 1970s.
Thomas Cheuvront married June Holiday. They had one child, John Richard Cheuvront (my father). John Cheuvront died on 13 December 1982.
I would be very interested in hearing from anyone else with knowledge of this branch of the family. When I was a child there were many Cheuvronts living in Oxford. Most have now passed away and it is getting harder and harder to piece together the family history there.
