I am pretty sure you are from the Kansas line descending from Caleb Cheuvront, e.g., Joseph Cheuvront => Caleb Cheuvront => Morris Cheuvront. It then it gets murkey.
Page 7 of the history on this site indicates that only Virginia Belle lived in Oxford. Our family bible indicates that both Virginia Belle and an unmentioned son of Morris named Jesse lived in Oxford. Jesse is our great grandfather. I think the history is the following, but I have only been working on it for a day and I already messed it up once:
Morris Cheuvront was born Sept. 2, 1819 in Virginia. He married Harriet M. Preston Born April 11, 1824 in Maryland. Morris and Harriet had several children, at least two of which lived in Oxford Kansas - Belle (Virginia Belle) and Jesse (our great granfather).
Jesse was born March 9, 1858 in Bridgeport, W. Virginia. He died October 7, 1950 in Oxford Kansas.
Jesse was married to Sarah Augusta Meehan in La Junta, Co. on June 6, 1884. The children of Jesse and Sarah who did not die in infancy are: Loyola(Lola), Maurice, Alice, Elmo, and Thomas (our grandfather, born 1901 in Oxford Kansas).
Lola, Maurice, Elmo and Thomas lived out their lives in Oxford Kansas. They died in the late 1960s and 1970s.
Thomas Cheuvront married June Holiday. They had one child, John Richard Cheuvront (our father). John Cheuvront died on 13 December 1982.
John Cheuvront married Janie Schell (our mother) and had three children: Michael Cheuvront, Mark Cheuvront and Amy Cheuvront.
You can compare this with "Morris Cheuvront (s/o Caleb and Rebecca Covert Cheuvront)" on page 7 of the Cheuvront History. The unmentioned Jesse was Belle's sister. My father was always impressed by Belle and used to speak of her often.
Our uncle Morris lived north of Oxford along the river. I died when I was young and I don't remember much about him. I recall that he lived alone in a large but slightly run down house.
My name is Richard Cheuvront and I live in Rousset france. This is a small village near Aix. I was born in Emporia Kansas and I am an American living as an ex-patriot.
I would be curious to hear what others may have to say regarding this Oxford branch of the family. There was quite a crowd there when I was very young, but most have passed away now.
