1: A Charles Ellsworth, Jr.
was b. in East Windsor, CT. Feb. 25, 1758; d. in Hartford, Susquehanna
Co. Penn. in 1813. Removed from Ellington, Tolland Co. Ct. to Hartford,
Penn. in 1810, where his name appeared as a taxable in 1813.
He married Sarah Hill, who died in Hartford, Penn. in April 1838,
after she fell down a flight of stairs and broke her neck.
Charles Ellsworth, Jr. had a military appointment in July 1775,
and was Captain of the 5th Comp. 8th Regiment in Ct.
Letter of Administration issued Feb. 22, 1814. to Sally Ellsworth,
on estate of Charles Ellsworth late of the TWP. of Hartford, Susquehanna
Co. Pa. Sept 1817. Upon petition of Sally Ellsworth, setting forth
that her husband Charles Ellsworth died inestate leaving ten children,
four of who are minors, viz; Austin 19, Diana 14, Philena 12, Pamela 11,
and praying the court to appoint a guardian, which was done. Orphan's
Court Docket of Susquehanna Co. Volume I page 140.
August 23, 1819, Charles' children, brothers Oliver, Henry,
Eliphalet, and Austin Ellsworth joined in signing a deed to sell property
in Hartford TWP. Susquehanna Co., Pa.
2: A Charles Ellsworth, born in Windsor,
Conn. Dec. 12, 1721. Died Sept. 28, 1806 or 1807, aged 86 years;
married Betsy Bell, who died "after 1790". He was a member of committee
of Safety and Selectman of East Windsor, Conn. He served in the French
and Indian War in 1755.
