~WORDS FROM THE HEART~

          The poem below was written
          for my lovely sister.
          She is the next
          oldest child of six.
          I am the eldest.
          She resides in Maryland
          in her water front home
with her 19 year old son-
          Christropher.

          The proprietor of her own
          successful buiness, she
          lives in a quaint small
          historic town at the upper
          end of the Chesapeake Bay.

          We share many heart warming
talks and our sorrows as well.
I love you my sister and
          miss you so very much!

          LISTEN MY SISTER

          by L. Bowers

            My Dearest Sister Donna
          with love
          Whose life is not without
          sorrows
Bless you with God's grace from above
For you have the chance to
          change tomorrows

           When you were young, but
          only a child
          Life dealt you some very
          inward colds
Growing up was not that kind
          and mild
          A mother's arms from which
          there were no holds

          Memories of times of problems
          and joy
Were then not felt to mean
          what they do now
You were young and met a boy
That is life and girls do
          that with a WOW

          Love was sparsely sent and
          rarely freely given
Not your fault, not your doing,
          and not recalled
          From your little heart the
          love< you needed was driven
A time when parents were loving
          the feeling of being alcoholed

So my dearest sister, I was
          not always there
My life was somewhere else given
You were all alone the oldest
          of the pairs
From also my little heart the family
          was driven

As you became a mother of
          a son so fair
Life was going in a direction
          that was fastly moving
My sister with the olive skin
          and almost black hair
Sought out a life that was
          headed toward loosing

She married a man who was
          within himself
          And with the problems that
          were deeply stored away
It appeared that to her she
          was put on a shelf
          Until her life was nearly
          ended one unfortunate day

          Success, freedom, and a lifestyle
          of fine living
          Not something that is to
          be shun
From one to another was not
          really given
She up and took flight again
          life had just begun

          Lonely, without a mate, older
          and feeling her fate
          My next to me sister~
          she met another Mister
          From her heart this man
          her freedom he did take
And with revenge and hurt she
regretted the day he kissed her

Now with bills to pay, a job,
          and her son an adult
          A life without meaning,
          companionship, and peace
          She moves in circles in
          her mind
          what will be the result

Where will she go, what will
          she do, confused at least
          Another male figure enters
          her life
A kind man also with a past
          Her direction hmmm to become
          a wife
Would it, could it possibly last

In my mind my sister be
          decide With sincerity, clarity, and
          once and for the haul
          Which things she truly wants
          from deep inside
For you see my loving sister,
it never works to have it
          all

          Life has been very tough~we
          both know that
It has been hurts and pains,
          rejections, unloving
          We have been separated, neglected,
          and almost was a splat

It is your life, your fate, your
          happiness you must be preserving
With my old age coming near
From my heart I now don't
          hesitate to speak
          My life without happiness I
          always fear
So my sister, I say to you,
WHY ARE WE SO VERY WEAK?

With the only Love that I
          know how to give
I share with you as only
          a brother can
For you see its only once
          our lives we live
          I welcome our feelings they
          go hand in hand

            With Love
