Why do we make web pages? Why do we spend hours choosing colors, working out the layout, playing with HTML until we're fluent? It's not for money…Gods know that only a scant few of us make any of that. Sometimes it's not even for traffic. We'll spend hours making a page, knowing full well that only a handful of people will ever see it. But for that handful we weave a tapestry of complicated script and eye-popping graphics. We pour our souls into our pages. They speak about who we are.

Here is who we are, and this is what we do…

Web pages are an outlet to voice our opinions, a soundboard, a signboard. The one medium in which we can cast off our physical selves and enter a realm purely of the mind. The Internet knows no race, gender, age, color or creed. The Internet has no prejudice or hate. Here we can post our thoughts and feelings, opinions and ideas, stories, poems, art, music… ourselves. But why do we bother? Why post our lives here on the Internet? Why not just be well know in your home town? Because in our home towns people know us for what we look like. They've made their opinions. And the socially ostracized are outcast. We make web pages to search for our kindred. To find those who understand. We cast our nets unto the world, hoping that someone, anyone, will hear us and understand, and speak back. I can't speak for all, But I personally value my Internet friends more than I value most of the people at my school (there are exceptions of course). Only one person in a thousand can share the same insights that I have. Each person is unique, but no man can stand alone. On the Internet we find our kindred. By posting signboards of who we are, what we believe, what we like, dislike, care about, think about, and dream of.

Here is who we are, and this is what we do…

We set a part of ourselves adrift upon the globe, a whisper in the hurricane of humanity…. And someone whispers back.
