People at work who have gardens in their backyard have been bringing their surplus vegetables to the lab lately. There's always a small basket of bell peppers or squash in the break room or the the front office for anyone who wants them. It's pretty nifty. I haven't had to buy tomatoes, peppers or zucchinis in a while. It saves me a few dollars a week, which is cool, but the really nice thing about it is that these vegetables are from someone's backyard, and I find that just... nifty for some reason. Yesterday for example I got a zucchini-like thing as long as my forearm. I cooked a third of it with beef and tomatoes for dinner and it was quite yummy. And today someone brought a bag of yellow tomatoes which were still warm from the sun. I got two. The whole thing seems so... healthy. And it's a good feeling. Miss Alexis sent me a box of dried mint leaves from her garden. The mailbox still smells minty twenty-four hours later, as does today's mail.
