Two nights ago I meant to turn off the TV when I accidentally pressed the wrong button and changed channels instead, thereby discovering that they're having midnight shows of Gundam Wing on the Cartoon Network.

See, I'd never seen a single episode in my life but Gundam was one of those things... I loved it in advance, just like the way I loved sushi even before my first bite. Don't ask how or why. I just did, so you can imagine what went through my mind when I realized that I was watching...

I suppose I would've found out eventually, but finding out this way made it so much more exciting somehow. It was like getting a gift when it wasn't even your birthday. Sometimes the coolest things happen by accident.   
                              
(Was it not a happy accident of fate that I was actually home when Basque was just in the neighborhood and needed to use the phone a hundred years ago? And tonight when Tom Waits sang House Where Nobody Lives on Jay Leno?)
