10-Year-Old Vegetarian Has Last Laugh On Carl’s Jr.

VENICE BEACH, Calif. (Wireless Flash) – A 10-year-old boy is biting the hand that feeds him in the name of vegetarianism. Brandon Neal’s home in Venice Beach, California, is frequently featured in TV commercials, so it was no surprise to his father, Brad, when a production company asked him if they could film in his home. Mr. Neal gave the O.K. before he and his die-hard vegetarian son learned the commercial was for burger baron Carl’s Jr. Brad says his son pleaded with him to cancel the shoot, but because they needed the money they came up with a solution where Brandon would get to donate 20 percent of the money to a charity of his choice. Brandon choose the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals and sent them a handwritten letter of his story and a check for $1000. A spokesman for PETA says the activists were thrilled to receive the money and vow to put it toward an anti-meat billboard near a Carl’s Jr. in Venice Beach.
