Flash Lites: Rip ‘N’ Read Pop Culture Recap

NEW YORK (Wireless Flash) – Actor Adrien Brody knows what it’s like to be a starving actor thanks to director Roman Polanski. Polanski forced the 6 ft. 1 actor to drop down to 130 pounds for his role as a starving musician in the Cannes Palme d’Or winner The Pianist. The worst part of it, says Brody, was Polanski made him lose the weight while they were shooting in Paris, so all the great restaurants were off-limits.

HANNOVER, Germany – Ozzy Osbourne’s success as a lovable TV dad comes as no surprise to his old heavy metal pals in the Scorpions. Lead singer Klaus Meine says, “Ozzy is a perfect character for a series like this because he’s so original and such a funny guy,” and adds he’s happy Ozzy’s becoming a big TV star.

LONDON – Paul McCartney is getting a new duet partner: Queen Elizabeth. The Queen has agreed to sing “All You Need Is Love” onstage with the former Beatle at her Golden Jubilee celebration next Monday (June 3). Wonder if Mac will sing “Her Majesty”?

SYDNEY, Australia – Chris Isaak is an Eminem fan and he doesn’t care what anybody thinks – even the rapper himself. Crooner Isaak recently told Sydney’s Undercover.com that he thinks Eminem would probably hate his music because “he dislikes a lot of things,” but Isaak doesn’t care. He says he’s an Eminem fan because “he’s got a good sense of humor” and he’s “clever melodically.”

LONDON – Coldplay singer Chris Martin recently told NME.com that his band’s new record, A Rush Of Blood To The Head, was directly inspired by Sept. 11. He said a theme of “this could be your last meal, so make it a nice meal” runs throughout the record because they wrote the songs while thinking “We’re all going to die.”
