Barbara Streisand Producer Becomes Indiana Jones of Classical Music
LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash) Talk about career jumps: Denny Diante has gone from producing acts like Barbara Streisand to becoming the Indiana Jones of classical music. Diante recently rescued over a half million hours of historic Russian classical music that had been buried deep inside a Moscow prison for 50 years. The analog tapes were discovered a few years back by one of Diantes associates and Diante has fought tooth and nail with the Russian government to get the rights to them often schmoozing and drinking vodka with them long into the night. Now he plans to release the tracks as remastered CDs. However, Diante says the commute is a pain he has to fly from L.A. to Russia whenever he wants to work with the tapes since no insurance company will insure the reels, which are worth billions.
