Indiana Students Create Freeze-Dried Beer

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (Wireless Flash) – Most folks prefer their beer frosty cold – but two students in Indiana prefer it freeze dried and sprinkled over food like a spice. The two recent graduates of Purdue University developed a recipe for the sudsy spice when their teacher asked them create a freeze-dried food product for their senior design class. Co-creator Michelle Kelly says the non-alcoholic powder, made from a homemade Octoberfest brew, can be sprinkled on casseroles, mixed into pretzel dough or even used as a potato chip seasoning. She says folks who’ve sampled the stuff are amazed at how much it tastes like beer. But the future of the beer spice is murky. Both Kelly and her co-creator have just graduated from school and are more concerned with landing jobs than marketing the spice.
