Country Comedian Cledus T. Judd Actually Tries To Sing

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Wireless Flash) – Country-singing comedian Cledus T. Judd is trying something funny: Singing in a normal voice. Ever since 1996, Judd has been country music’s answer to Weird Al Yankovic, singing spoofy songs like “Did I Shave My Back For This?” in a cornpone accent straight from Hee Haw. However, he’s decided to do his fans a favor and “sing a little better” on his new CD, Cledus Envy. Judd says he spent a week writing the lyrics for “Breath,” his spoof of Faith Hill’s “Breath,” and got so wound up trying to match the original song’s rhyme scheme, he ended up “...kickin’ sþþþ over.” The extra effort paid off. He says many performers who used to get mad when he made fun of their ditties now get mad when he doesn’t.
