Dress Made of Eyelashes Displays In ‘Dangerous Beauty’ Art Exhibit

NEW YORK (Wireless Flash) – Art lovers will get an eyeful of an exhibit opening this Thursday (May 23) in a New York museum thanks to a dress made out of false eyelashes. The dress is part of The Jewish Community Center’s “Dangerous Beauty” exhibit, and is made from 5,000 human hair eyelashes attached to a slip. Exhibit curator Manon Slome says the exhibit asks the question: “What is the cost in human terms of living in society’s idea of beauty?” In answer to the question, the show also will display a straitjacket studded with acrylic fingernails, and a red and white carnival mask with TV monitors behind the eyes playing interviews of random women on the streets of New York talking about their bodies. The show also features a photograph collection including a shot of a man shooting himself up with an IV full of Slimfast.
