Commodores Hope To Funk It Up With Dixie Chicks

LAS VEGAS (Wireless Flash) – The 1970s soul group the Commodores is hoping to make a comeback with once, twice, three times a Dixie Chick. Commodores guitarist William “Wack” King says the band is currently working on a new CD that will feature guest performances by contemporary acts, a la Carlos Santana’s Supernatural CD. The Commodores are known for funk songs like “Brick House,” but King says the Dixie Chicks are topping the band’s wish list. Surprised? You shouldn’t be. The Commodores have always liked country music and “Sail On,” was a country smash back in the early 1980s. King says before he discovered funk, his grandpa kept his radio tuned to country and “would break the fingers of anyone who switched stations.” No word on when the proposed Dixie Chicks collaboration will take flight but the Commodores will go in the studio in a few months.
