Four Tops Singer Confesses: ‘I Only Listen To My Own Recordings’

DETROIT (Wireless Flash) – Some entertainers have a hard time listening to their own recordings but not Four Tops member Duke Fakir. In fact, Fakir is such a big fan of his own music that he rarely listens to anything else. But Fakir doesn’t focus on hits like “Reach Out I’ll Be There” or “It’s the Same Old Song.” He prefers lesser- known recordings like the Tops’ takes on “Girl From Ipanema,” “Nice And Easy” or even “Ava Maria.” In fact, he listens to the band’s Christmas album “even in the middle of July.” Although many of the rarer Tops recordings have been hard to find in recent years, fans now have a chance to hear Fakir’s faves, thanks to the band’s box set, Fourever, which features 85 songs, including 40 tracks that have never appeared on CD before.
