It’s ‘The Night of 1000 Stevies’

NEW YORK (Wireless Flash) – Don’t be surprised if you spot Stevie Nicks in New York tonight – it’s “The Night of 1000 Stevies.” More than 1000 Stevie impersonators – most of them men – are invading the city to perform at an annual celebration of the wispy rock mama. According to participant Cathy Cervenka, faux-Stevies are streaming in from all over America clad in gauzy shawls, handkerchief skirts and platform boots. Some impersonators even smear powdered sugar under their noses to poke fun at the Fleetwood Mac singer’s past troubles with cocaine. Cervenka says the event culminates in a “Battle of 1000 Stevies” where all impersonators climb on stage and try to out-twirl and out-tambourine each other to the tune “Edge of Seventeen.” This year, they’ll also bid on an autographed boot and tambourine donated by the real Stevie.
