Survive That Pesky Jail Sentence, Speak Prison-ese
PORT TOWNSEND, Wash. (Wireless Flash) Did you know when jailbirds talk about Cadillacs they might actually be talking about cigarettes? Thats according to Prison-ese: A Survivors Guide to Speaking Prison Slang (Loompanics Unlimited), a new book of prison terms collected by ex-con author Gary K. Farlow. Other slang words straight from the slammer include the term, Colonel Klink, which isnt a Hogans Heroes reference, its prison-ese for a high ranking correctional officer. Honeycomb Hideout might sound like a 1960s psychedelic rock band, but it actually means solitary confinement. And finally, if a prisoner says he has gas, dont be too quick to plug your nose.
