Son of a Preacher Man Heads Up Rock Band

SAN DIEGO (Wireless Flash) – “Son of a Preacher Man” is more than just a song to the members of the up-and-coming band Edify – it’s their lead singer’s alter ego. The San Diego-based heavy rock quartet is led by Kyle Hildebrand, whose father is a non-denominational Christian pastor. He says he’s seen lots of corruption and self-righteousness in the church and that comes out in his songs. Sometimes it comes out in church too: Hildebrand says the band once performed at a youth function for his dad’s church and the singer told 300 kids watching the show he thinks their church is corrupt. Although he admits “you could hear the crickets for a few moments” after he dissed the church, the kids resumed their rocking when the band launched into its next song. Edify will be returning to their hometown roots next Saturday (May 11), when they play the Pacific Beach Block Party in San Diego.
