‘Will & Grace’ Guest Star: ‘Joan Crawford Was the First Grace’

HOLLYWOOD (Wireless Flash) – Joan Crawford is best-known for her sharp shoulder pads and hatred of wire hangers – but the late film star had a softer side. In fact, she blazed a trail for folks like “Grace” on Will & Grace because she was the best friend of Hollywood’s first openly-gay man, silent film star Billy Haines. Now, that story will be coming to the big screen thanks to an actor who guest-stars on tomorrow’s Will & Grace as the frantic manager of a cabaret where Jack puts on a magic show. Jason Stuart has just optioned a book on the Billy Haines story and hopes to get a film released independently or on cable. He says the story depicts Crawford as an incredibly supportive friend of an openly gay man. “She was like the first Grace,” Stuart says.
