Tomorrow Is First-Ever Loch Ness Monster Day (May 2)

LOCH NESS, Scotland (Wireless Flash) – Tomorrow (May 2) will be a whale of a day for the Loch Ness monster because it’s the first-ever “International Loch Ness Monster Day.” The date has been chosen by the Official Loch Ness Monster Fan Club to honor the anniversary of the first official Nessie sighting, which happened May 2, 1933. Club president and Nessie researcher Gary Campbell wants International Loch Ness Monster Day to be a day where folks recognize that, despite advances in scientific research, some mysteries still remained unsolved. Although Nessie is the focus, Campbell also suggests honoring other cryptozoological critters like Bigfoot and Nessie’s Canadian cousin, “Ogopogo.” He’s also lobbying the United Nations to make International Loch Ness Monster Day an annual event.
